Hi there! My name is Charmaine. I'm a pen and ink artist and illustrator creating detailed, expressive artwork inspired by the natural world, folklore, and quiet moments of magic.
Working primarily in traditional media, I specialize in fine line work that brings character and emotion to animals, landscapes, and imagined scenes. Every piece begins with a story—sometimes whispered, sometimes wild—and evolves through the slow, intentional rhythm of ink on paper.
My portfolio includes both standalone illustrations and collections designed for print, apparel, and homeware under my brand, Dragonfire Studio. Each illustration is crafted with a balance of precision and atmosphere, using light, texture, and movement to draw the viewer in.
My work has found its way onto mugs, clothing, digital prints, and collector pieces for those who appreciate handmade detail and timeless charm. Whether it's a windswept magpie or a forest creature mid-fable, my goal is always the same: to capture stillness, meaning, and story in every line.
If you're looking for artwork with heart, texture, and narrative—welcome.
Traditional Work
I use Pigma Micron fineliners (mostly 0.03) on hot-pressed watercolour paper.
Sometimes I'll throw in some Coliro watercolour, or Winsor & Newton Designer's Gouache, as they have a good lightfast rating for professional work.
Digital Work
I use an iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Procreate for my digital work.
